Summer Camps

Each kidscommons camp offers hours of fun, exploration and discovery as well as a chance to make new friends!

** Register for more than one camp per family and receive a $5.00 discount per camp. **

Payment due at time of registration.

Refund Policy:
1.  kidscommons reserves the right to cancel any camp which fails to meet the required minimum participation. Full refunds will be issued in such instances.
2.  If a child withdraws from a camp by the registration deadline, kidscommons will refund the camp fee minus $25.00 for processing.
3.  No refunds will be given if the child is withdrawn from a camp after the registration deadline.

Scholarships:  Limited scholarships are available for kidscommons camps. For additional information, call 812.378.3046 or stop by the museum.

LEGO™ Building Basics – Both Camps are FULL
June 5-9   9 AM-12N or 1:30-4:30 PM
Registration Deadline: May 22
Ages: 5-8
Cost: $110 members/$125 non-members
Join us for this introductory LEGO class and learn the building blocks of design and engineering. You will create multiple projects with LEGO blocks using the LEGO Elements kits as well as try a computer modeling program that introduces design and building concepts. This camp is a prerequisite for LEGO Engineering and LEGO Robotics. Please consult kidscommons educator if camper is older than 8 years of age.

 

Art for the Senses
June 12-16   9AM-12N
Registration Deadline: May 30
Ages: 3-5
Cost: $110 members/$125 non-members
Art is so much fun when you can use your body to make your masterpiece.  See, hear, smell and taste art like never before!  Each day campers explore one of the five senses through a variety of activities that include music, crafts, experiments and stories.

 

BOOM Science – FULL
June 12-16   1:30-4:30 PM
Registration Deadline: May 30
Ages: 8-12
Cost: $115 members/$130 non-members
Discover the science behind things that go “boom” in this explosive and exciting camp! Experiments with chemistry, physics, and geosciences will have campers practicing the scientific method. Bring your inner mad scientist and we will supply the safety glasses.

 

LEGO™ Problem Solvers – FULL
June 19-23   9AM-12N
Registration Deadline: June 5
Ages: 6-8
Cost: $110 members/$125 non-members
Calling all problem solvers! Join Jack and Jill as they look for ways to solve real-world problems. Campers will be encouraged to use their imagination and knowledge of Lego structures to build awesome contraptions.

 

Passport to the Arts – NEW
June 19-23   1:30-4:30 PM

Ages: 8-12
Cost: $110 members/$125 non-members
Join us for a multi-sensory, enrichment camp to unlock camper’s inner globetrotter by exploring arts and cultures from around the world. Each day uses thematic immersion to explore a new region of the world through various art media while exploring music, language, food, and customs.

 

All the “Ologies” – FULL
June 26-30   9AM-12N
Registration Deadline: June 12
Ages: 5-8
Cost: $110 members/$125 non-members
If you are curious and like to learn new things the “ologies” camp is for you. Each day campers will try a different “Ology” or “study of” to discover the fascinating world of biology, anthropology, ecology and more!

 

Cooking Cents – NEW – FULL
June 26-30    1:30-4:30 PM

Registration Deadline: June 12
Ages: 8-12
Cost: $115 members/$130 non-members
Delicious, crave-worthy meals don’t have to cost tons of money. Lean how to create budget-friendly, family meals that will have them asking for more. Each camper will go home with a week-long menu and shopping list, along with a cookbook.

 

Jr. Programmers – NEW – FULL

It is never too early to enter the exciting world of coding! Campers develop introductory computer programming skills with board games, group activities, Swift Playgrounds and Scratch Jr.

 

Community Crusaders – NEW
July 5-7    9AM-12N

Ages: 8-12
Cost: $100 members/$115 non-members
Do you wish you could change the world? Do you love your community and want to make it the best it can be? Join us for an experience you won’t soon forget as we work with local organizations to help those in need. Each day features a different project and organization.

 

LEGO™ Engineering – Both camps are FULL
July 10-14   9AM-12N or 1:30-4:30 PM

Ages: 7-12
Cost: $110 members/$125 non-members
After guided exploration to understand basic engineering concepts, students will be challenged to build projects and apply motors. We introduce component parts, and how they can be used to construct simple motorized machines. Lego Building Basics is a prerequisite course for this camp.

 

Survivorkid – FULL
July 17-21    8:30-11:30 AM

Ages: 8-12
Cost: $110 members/$125 non-members
What would you do if your family was stranded in a deserted location? Do you know the rule of 3s? Survivorkid camp is designed to teach basic survival skills including water collection and purification, hunting for wild edibles and fire and shelter building. Want to SURVIVE this summer? Mini Masters – NEW

Do you enjoy learning about famous artists and creating projects with different materials? Join us for messy fun learning about Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, Matisse and more. Every day you will jump into famous works of art to inspire your own masterpieces.
